General notes
The origins of Burnley Fair dates back to at least 1294. The fairs were originally held around St. Peter's Church, where the old market cross was situated. The site of the fair moved to the Cattle Market in the 1800's, which is where this photograph was taken. Fair-goers had the opportunity to ride on one of the many steam powered carousels or try their luck at a shooting gallery.
