Burnley Barracks were built in 1819 using money from local buiness men who wanted a garrison stationed in the town to help prevent riots. It was sold in 1897 as the garrison moved to Fullwood, Preston. However, troops were again stationed there during WWI and WWII. It was demolished in 1981.
