User Feedback:
'Although the caption suggests 1880s, the census records prove the inn was run continuously by the Hardman family from 1841 to 1891, but was unoccupied in 1901. The name Nathaniel Charnock, as featured in the photo, appears in a number of reports in 1901 as the landlord, but he seems to have been replaced by Richard Bennett in March 1902, probably due to his unsuitability. It is therefore fairly safe to say that the photograph was from 1901.' 03/08/2023.
