Photograph shows the new road Bocholt Way under construction in August 1973. The road was built on a section of the old Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Line and runs from Rawtenstall Station to Cloughfold. Most of the buildings in the photograph were later demolished except for the square building in the centre right of the image which is Ilex Mill. It was converted into apartments.
