General notes
Brunswick Methodist Church established 1869 closed 1962 demolished 1963 stood opposite the Town Hall on Manchester Rd. Burnley. Burnley Historical Society have "A History of Brunswick Chapel" by J. Atkin.
An almost identical version of this image appears on p. 13, Burnley Express 1.10.1932 , the occasion being a presentation to long-serving choir members. The photograph donated to Burnley Library gives names and some family connections within the choir; James T Pollard and Wm. Pollard were father and son and ran Atlas Foundry, Caldervale Rd., (and who have a magnificent tomb known as The Chest in Burnley Cemetery), there are several Gutteridges : Henry and his daughter Margaret, Henry's brother Rowland and his wife; Herbert (Harry Rycroft) choir leader, and daughter Joan; Brothers Fred and Seth Atkin, and also says that Arnold Greenwood (2nd Left Back Row) died in New Zealand . The clergyman Ref. C.G. Johnson (5th from right) joined Brunswick in September 1930.
