Preston
Built in 1728 as the residence of the headmaster of Preston Grammar School. In 1768 Richard Arkwright invented his water frame here. Bought by Mr. Margerison in 1892 and used as a Temperance "model" lodging house. At one time a public fish market was held on the open space in front. Restored 1978-80. Now the headquarters of Preston Age Concern.
