Coppull
Being an avid walker, I regularly walk public footpaths all year round, and 2020 was some strange year.
Living in Coppull you can always hear the M6 Motorway hum, and West Mainline rail link clatter.
During a lockdown walk during the COVID-19 outbreak, using my government sanctioned exercise period.
I noted how quiet the ambient noise was, no rumble , no clatter, and you could hear birds singing clearly.
My walk took me over the M6 motorway and I couldn’t believe my eyes… totally empty, devoid of all traffic.
If only it could stay that way… If Only!

Lancashire Covid 19 Archive
In April 2020, Lancashire Archives launched a project to collect and share the experiences of Lancashire residents during the Covid 19 pandemic. We asked people to send us anything they wanted to share, and we had an incredible response. Poems, diaries, photographs, artwork, videos, sound recordings all arrived, sent in by all ages from pre-schoolers to nonagenarians.
