Mr James Dowbiggin taking the rainfall with the new gauge at the Greg Observatory, Williamson Park, Lancaster
James Dowbiggin was appointed as the curator of the the Greg Observatory in Williamson Park in 1902 and retired in 1939.

The observatory was demolished around 1960, it's foundations can still be seen at the Park.
