Christopher Johnson (1782-1866) was a surgeon. Born in Lancaster, the son of a doctor, he was orphaned age 12. He was apprenticed to a medical practitioner in Preston and later studied in Edinburgh. He first practised was in Settle, but in 1809 he returned to Lancaster. His first public appointment was a surgeon to the local Lonsdale Militia. By 1812, he was one of the honorary surgeons at the Dispensary (Castle Hill, Lancaster). He was made Mayor of Lancaster 1832.
