This old homestead has a two storied porch, gabled wing, mullioned windows, and projecting chimney stack.
The date 1678 and the initials of Thomas Whalley are inside the house. It was the original home of the Whalley family, and was mentioned in the documents of the 14th century. In 1647 when Thomas Whalley is described as a gentleman of Eachill, Attorney for Thomas Walmsley in 1665, Governor of Blackburn Grammar School 1688. Purchased Clerk Hill Estate in 1699.
Died in the year 1714, and was interred at Great Harwood Church.
