The view is of Squires Gate Lane looking inland eastwards. We think that the white building on the right could be the paddock for Clifton Park Racecourse and the larger building behind it the grandstand. The racecourse was opened in 1911 and used as the King's Lancashire Military Convalescent Home in the First World War. Soldiers also did their basic training in Blackpool and some can be seen marching down Squires Gate Lane, possibly after their training in the sand dunes.
