The site was created in the 1890s by Fairhaven Estates Company. Fairhaven Lake was used in the 1950s and 60s for sailing boat regattas, water skiing and hydroplane racing. No longer used for competition, but boats can still be hired, and there is a larger boat for cruises around the lake. There is a handwritten message on the back, but writing style makes it difficult to read in its entirety.
