Member of Burnley School Board, 1871 - 1883. Member of Burnley Town Council, 1863-1869 and 1881-1898. Elected Alderman Oct. 10th 1883. Mayor of Burnley 1883-1885. Borough Magistrate May May 1881. County Magistrate July 1888. Connected with Brunswick Chapel and Schools for 42 years.
