General notes
SWAN (FD116) came to Fleetwood as a newly built vessel for the Cygnet Steam Fishing Co Ltd. Served as a mine-sweeper from 1914-1919 (listed by the Royal Navy as SWAN lll). The trawler was lost on 07/03/1921 when she collided with the US steamer 'Edgemont' in thick fog in the Western Approaches, 800 miles off Lands End. The collision almost cut her in half. 6 men were lost and 5 were saved. The surviving crew members returned to Fleetwood aboard the trawler 'Arley'.
