General notes
Alfred Cooper was the master of the tripe dressing trade in Burnley. During the early 1900's he operated eleven shops in the Burnley and Padiham area. He also had his main works on Arch Street, an area of Burnley which was popular with people in the meat trade.

It is difficult to conclusively say which one of his shops has been photographed here, or indeed whether or not it is Alfred Cooper in the photograph. The most likely answer to the first question is that it's his shop on St. James's Street, as this was built on a corner plot. Given the importance of photography at the time, the most likely answer to the second question is yes, the man in the photograph is probably Alfred Cooper.
