A letter attached to the photo reads as follows:

Dear Mildred,

The 'Trawden Wesleyan School' photograph dated April 1901 you make keep for your records. The only positive identity I can make is L to R. middle row last boy - my uncle Arthur Bannister - born 14th June 1889, died 7th January 1982, age 92. He was the 9th child of eleven born to my grandfather DAVID Bannister (b.21/11/1843 and d. 19/10/1928) and JANE Bannister (b.21/3/1851 and d. 22/5/1918).

I make Arthur Bannister to be age 11 when photographed,. I think the Trawden Wesleyan School would, at that time be a 'day' school (not a purely Sunday school), in which case the Maser could be a Mr. LITTLE - who was reputed to be a Cumberland type wrestling champion. Arthur Bannister died without issue but was the Uncle of Sir Roger Bannister (of 4 min. mile fame, and now a prominent Neurologist Consultant to various London hospitals and also to several other Consultants and Doctors.
