General notes
This scrapbook recalls the events of 28 October 1927, when a fierce storm caused the sea to rise and sweep into the town. Deep water surrounded Fleetwood for days, isolating residents and causing widespread devastation. The scrapbook includes correspondence and newspaper articles about Fleetwood Police Chief Superintendent Francis Crapper's MBE award to recognise his rescue work. The scrapbook is part of the Mary Haigh collection housed at Lancashire Archives and Local History.
