General notes
In this clip Jack discusses preserving cod livers on fishing vessels and the money he earned as an apprentice. He describes spending his money at the Winter Gardens and the Palace Varieties. Jack recalls the Sea Maid, the ship for collecting the cod liver oil. He talks about saving other fish livers and extracting electric ray oil, for rheumatism, a working hazard for fishermen.
