In this section of the interview John discusses Fleetwood and the impact of the Second World War. He recalls Belgium trawlers arriving at Fleetwood with families onboard and fishermen from the ports of Hull and Lowestoft working from Fleetwood. John mentions Fleetwood fishing company 'Iago' and Commander Lawford offering vessels being offered for war service. He discusses the dangerous hazards Fleetwood fishermen faced in the early days of the Second World War, the patrol service and minesweeping. He also recalls Neville Chamberlain's announcing Britain being at war.
