Hood House was built in 1784 on the site of what is now Scott Park. It was later demolished, either in 1898 or 1901. The property was initially owned by Lawrence Halsted, then by his nieces Eliza and Amelia Holgate, who took the Halsted name. Eventually, the land was purchased to create Scott Park.
