General notes
Burnley Carnival was set up to raise funds for the hospital and a children's holiday home. The first Carnival was in 1924 and the Burnley News described its huge size on September 13th. The procession involved local people in fancy dress and local businesses showing off their resources. It started on Padiham Road and weaved its way through Burnley before reaching the Prarie playing fields.
