On 21.5.1913 Burnley News reported on the presentation of a new silver shield, and handsome gold medals to the Clifton Tuesday FC, winners of the Burnley Tuesday League. The shield was donated by the chairman of the League Mr. A Sharpley at a cost of £16. It had an inscription
“Burnley Tuesday Football League
Presented by A. Sharpley Esq., 1913, to be competed for.
A laurel wreath encircles a medallion representing footballers at play.
The other teams in the league were Burnley Carlton, Nelson, Clifton, Burnley Tuesday, Burnley Nomads.
The players mentioned as being the Clifton Tuesday team were E. Spencer, Captain, R. Charles Vice Captain, F Smith, A. Parker, G. Burnett, F. Walker, H. Mellor, A. Turner, F. Worrell, S. Davis, J. Lorimer, F. Richmond (Sec.)
Photograph not found in the newspaper but there is the same photo on Burnley in the Great War website on the Football Teams page, player front row right, is named as Edward Bernard Spencer.
