General notes
Airplane designed and built by Alliott Verdon Roe. The first all-British aircraft, its maiden flight took place on Walthamstow Marshes. The photograph probably shows Roe standing by the plane on the right, as the other man has the relatively menial job of keeping the rear of the aircraft off the ground.
