It stood near the site of the old Pea Booth.
A stone above the main entrance stated the year 1817.
A popular meeting place for many years. Owned by the corporation who leased it to The Old Brewery, owned by G.D.L. Fernandez. About 1888 the Corporation gave up the licence. It is believed that the last licensee was Mr J. McConnell, a former Burnley Footballer. Since that point the premises was used by the Markets Department as store rooms, until the building was demolished c. 1887.

Notes on the card relating to the same image on card EBU-D64-68 with a duplicate photograph states it was originally H. Crook's barn (see Grant papers, reprinted 1973). This building became the Market Store House.
