General notes
Well Hall Hotel.
Looking along Church Street, now the side of Kierby Walk. The Well Hall Hotel is now [1990] a florist. The Hotel was built in 1872 and it closed as a pub in 1958 The Hotel stood on the site of Well Hall which belonged to Dr. William Greenwood. In the middle of the row is the Palace Cinema which was also the Palace Skating Rink.The Empress Ballroom replaced the Palace Cinema.Rebuilt in 1927. The Herald and Post Office stands there now. In the distance is the original White Lion, St. James Street, demolished and rebuilt in 1910
