General notes
The congregation was founded in 1788 at Keighley Green and this closed in 1840. It was Burnley's first Methodist Meeting place. The congregation then moved to Hargreaves Street, which was founded in 1839. In 1962 the church amalgamated with Brunswick Methodist Church. In 1965 the Chapel was closed and demolished. Central Methodist Church was built on same site.

On the 29th June 1919 a stained glass window was unveiled at Hargreaves Street Wesleyan Chapel
by Mr. & Mrs. William Lancaster to commemorate the men of the chapel, and Red Lion Street School, who lost their lives. This included their son - Lieutenant William Oliver Lancaster (Burnley News - 2nd July 1919).
