Lived Rivington was an ecology expert wrote a book on the subject "A Natural Ecology" Part of the book is devoted to land reclamation. He worked with Ken Spencer on reclaiming the Towneley slag heap. In the photograph he was on an Easter course where the biology Dept. at Salford would spend two days each Easter reclaiming part of a colliery slope.
