General notes

Originally the residence of the Foulds family - who later built Rishton Mill - with a garden in front, whose extent is still shown by the paving in front. Later the officers of various detachments quartered at Lane Bridge Barracks lived here, amongst whom was Cpn James Yorke Scarlett of the 5th Dragoon Guards who wooed and won Miss Hargreaves of Bank Hall.
