General notes
Titus Thornber (1913-2006), who was an author, historian, electrical engineer and farmer, lived at Middle Pasture Farm.
The following information is from "The Farmer's Weekly" January 24th, 1951. The image features a hybrid, which was in use since 1942 "a useful farm servant, built by Mr J F Thornber, Middle Pasture Farm, Cliviger, Lancs., was originally constructed from a 1934, seven h.p. Jowett car with shortened chassis, two Howett gearboxes and a 1929 Morris-Commercial rear axle. The rear wheels are Ford with Army mud-snow tyres. In 1947 a War Department Howett engine was fitted. Mr. Thornber says it runs all day on two or three gallons of petrol, and he has adapted all his horse-drawn tackle to suit it.
