Formally called Barden Farm or Byerden Farm. In the 1891 census John Dean (67) gardener and family lived there. The Deans look to have left in about 1895. Stephensons from Cockden continued the garden up to 1905. The site was later occupied by Barden Secondary School playing fields. Byerden Lane became Barden Lane in 1909.
