Lower Ridge Farm was in existence until 1906 also known as Coopers Farm, Hill Top or Ridge Side dating back to 1650. It was largely replaced by Thompson Park and existed until 1906. A replacement for the former farm, Park Shed, was built in Leyland Road and was a cotton mill.
