Bank Top farm is the home of an old yeoman family and although only of small dimensions it has several interesting details in its structure, as the mullioned windows and projecting chimney stack.
A curious feature is the stone buttress which helps to support the building from the bank in the lane.

The Holden family held land here ins 1311. They rendered great service to Whalley Abbey, by granting a licence to the monastery to open out stone quarries on their land for the erection of the Abbey in 1330.
