General notes
The house was once the residence of the Slater family, prominent mill owners in Burnley. It later became a nightclub known as the Ponderosa.

Despite being on the local list of historically and architecturally interesting buildings, Whittlefield House was demolished in February 1977 due to its dilapidated condition and its location within the proposed path of the M65 motorway.
