As stated in Wednesday's issue, news has been received in Burnley of the death at Malta of Dr. Isobel Tate, who ad been engaged for many months on medical service with the Allied forces in t the Balkans. Dr. Tate, who was a lady of very high professional qualifications was appointed resident medical officer at the Burnley Workhouse in September, 1903, this being one of the first appointments of a lady to such a position nearly five years, leaving on June 6th, 1908 for Shrewsbury, to take up a medical appointment under the County Education Committee. Later on she held an official appointment at Manchester. Before the invasion o Servia she volunteered and went out to combat the epidemics.
