Alderman John Baron, JP. Born at Stoodley Bridge, Todmorden, April 30th, 1825. Died at Lark Hill, Burnley, August 21st, 1898. Guardian of the Poor 1870-1881. Member of Burnley School Board, 1871 - 1883. Member of Burnley Town Council, 1863-1869 and 1881-1898. Elected Alderman Oct. 10th 1883. Mayor of Burnley 1883-1885. Borough Magistrate May May 1881. County Magistrate July 1888. Connected with Brunswick Chapel and Schools for 42 years.
