Venerable Robert Mosley Master (1794-1867) also known as the “Clogging Parson”, was born in Croston. He was the son of Reverend Streynsham Master and Elizabeth Mosley. He married Frances Mary Smith, daughter of George Smith and Frances Mary Mosley, on 11 May 1822. He died at age 73 in Poulton-le-Fylde.

He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1815 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1818 with a Master of Arts (M.A.) He was Perpetual Curate between 1822 and 1855 at Burnley, Lancashire, England. He held the office of Archdeacon of Manchester from 1854 to 1867. He was Perpetual Curate between 1855 and 1864 at Leyland, Lancashire, England. He was the Rector between 1864 and 1867 at Croston, Lancashire, England.
