James Hartley Ashworth D.Sc, F.R.S, F.R.S.E (1874-1936) born in Burnley, was Professor of Zoology, University of Edinburgh 1919-1927; also Regius Professor of Natural History (commemorated by the magnificent Zoological Laboratory which bears his name)
He was married in 1901 to Clara, Daughter of William Hough, J.P. of Burnley. Marriage took place at Westgate: see Burnley Express 7/08/1901 page 3.
