Newspaper Cutting: A Disappearing Landmark

Birthplace of congregationalism in the district, the 110 year old Providence Chapel in Halifax Road, Brierfield is now disappearing, for as our photograph shows, workmen have started the task of demolition following the discovery of a crack in the fabric which rendered the building unfit for further use. The church has been closed for some months and for a number of years previously only anniversary services have been held there.
