General notes

Pollard Row was built in 1821 and the date stone remains at the end of the row. It was originally built for hand loom weavers. Living accommodation was on the ground floor for individual families, whilst the first floor consisted of a single room known as the loom shop, which ran the length of the row of cottages. As many as 20 hand looms would be housed there, with access via an external staircase which is still visible today.
