General notes
The picture presents some of the chief guests and officials of Nelson Golf Club. They attended the annual ball that was held at the Imperial Ballroom, in Nelson.
(The Imperial Ballroom, which was also known as the 'Nelson Imp', was situated just over the Leeds and Liverpool Canal Bridge on Carr Road in Nelson. It was a municipal hall site where famous music legends had performed here, such as the Beatles, Tina Turner, Tom Jones and Stevie Wonder. It does not exist in present day, as it was destroyed by a fire in 1976. The site is now home to residential flats).
