General notes
This is a group photograph of the 3 & 4 Platoons from the A Company of the 11th Service Battalion of the East Lancashire Regiment, known as the Accrington Pals. This photograph was taken at the St. John Ambulance Drill Hall in Accrington, in February 1915, shortly before the group marched from the Drill Hall to the Accrington's Railway Station to catch a train to Caernafon. From there they were posted to Penkridge, Grantham and Salisbury Plain.

W. Holmes was killed in September 1918, and is buried in Birr Cross Roads Cemetery in Belgium.

A reference is attached with which names correspond to which soldier.
