Arthur Hartley, Champion jumper of the world, shown jumping over a horse-drawn cab. From a postcard posted in Berlin by Arthur Hartley on 26/09/1907, sent to James Gorton in Stanhill. Library of Nineteenth Century photographs (19thcenturyphotos.com) re. Charles Wilson, active in the 1900s, states "G.W. Rowden, Arthur Hartley, Joe Derby, John Higgins and Joe Hastings were all touring similar acts around the same time, presenting themselves to the public as ‘the champion all-round jumper of the world.’ Accrington Observer article 21/03/1975 on Jack Higgins, jumper of Blackburn, in back of jacket.
