Joseph Thornton and his son George Thornton. Information on the reverse of the file copy states that George Thornton, on the right, died on 2nd December 1913 aged 47. He founded the Accrington Military Band and was musical director at the Empire Picture Palace. His father Joseph, on the left, died 12th February 1912 aged 73. The caption on the front of the picture which states "The Late J. Thornton and his Father" is incorrect. In the file wallet are photocopies of obituaries from the Accrington Observer and Times.
