General notes

Waterflatts, or Green Gates Farm as it was more familiarly known, stood on the right hand side of the lane leading from Waterloo House (on Whalley Road) to Queens Road. The farm was mentioned in 1539 and 1532, as a possession of the Kenyons of Milnshaw. It was rebuilt in the 18th century, but demolished in the early 1900s to make way for new streets such as Garden Street.
The photograph was taken between 1897 and 1903 and shows Queens Road, with the house Glen Wold in the background.
