Hillock Bank Farm on the slopes of The Coppice (Peel Park). It originally belonged to a branch of the Riley family of High Riley and later to the Walmsley and Petre family of Dunkenhalgh. Jonathan Peel bought the property in the late 18th century. William Peel gave The Coppice (35 acres of land) to Accrington Borough Council in 1907 and it was opened as Peel Park in 1909.
