Built in the 1890s by William Henry Herald, corn miller. Also known for a time as Sunnyside House. Opened as an Old People's Home by Lancashire County Council in 1949. Original house demolished 1976 and replaced by new buildings, which were themselves demolished in 2014. Housing development on the site
