William Boothman born 1841 in Waddington West Riding Yorkshire. Died 1919 aged 78 years in Accrington.
Children, 4 boys (James, Bill, Robert and John) and 4 girls (Alice, Bertha, Dinah and Eden)
William came to Accrington about 1879 and started a business in rush bottom chair making in Bridge Street Accrington later moving to Back Owen Street, on the railway side.
He made chairs, suites, parts for cartwheels, coconut shies at fares, stools. All the wood he used was delivered as logs.
He took into the business 3 sons (James, Robert and Bill), 1 grandson and 1 employee.
His son John became a chemist for most of his working life. He was the manager at the Accrington Sewage Works (Copy Clough). At that time it was the most modern in the country.
