General notes
The Palace Theatre was opened in December 1909 as a Variety Theatre. Threatened with demolition in 1970 it later became a bingo hall, eventually closing in 2009 and demolished in 2010 to make way for a car park. The building on the extreme right of the photograph is the Alexandra Billiard Hall.
