William Briggs born Ellenthorpe, near Gisburn. Carpenter by trade. Came to Accrington in the early 1860s and married Johanna Hargreaves at Christ Church in 1868 and had 8 children. Died December 1916. He had already made his own coffin, which he kept under the bed
