Canon Rodgers died on the 5th October 1917 aged 83.
He was born in Liverpool and ordained in 1858.
His first curacy was as Bishop of Auckland and later was incumbant at St. James. He exercised a great influence with three new parishes - St. Peter's , St. Andrew's and St Mary Magdalen's owing their existence to his initiative and generosity. He was a firm believer in religious education in day schools and opposed the school board system.
